What is Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment designed to address sagging skin, wrinkles, and fine lines, primarily in the face, neck, eyes, and body. It’s particularly effective in combating the loss of skin elasticity.
How does Thermage FLX Work?
Thermage FLX uses patented monopolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin. The heat energy tightens existing collagen and stimulates the production of new collagen, resulting in smoother, tighter skin. The treatment employs a system that includes a handpiece with a vibrating tip that provides a cooling sensation followed by a deep heating feeling, another cooling phase, and then vibration. This process remodels the collagen in the skin over time, with continued improvement up to six months after treatment.
What is Thermage FLX best Suited For?
The treatment is suitable for individuals typically aged 25 and above, across all skin types and tones. It can be used to treat various areas of the face such as the jawline, forehead, chin, nasolabial folds, and jowls, as well as other parts of the body like the stomach and inner thighs.
What to Expect During Treatment?
Patients will experience a brief cooling sensation when the device touches the skin, followed by a brief period of heat and then cooling again, accompanied by a gentle vibration. Some tingling and slight stinging may also be felt during the procedure. The intensity of the heat can be adjusted for comfort.
What are the Treatment Areas?
Thermage FLX can be used on the entire face, including periorbital areas (around the eyes), as well as the neck and body areas prone to skin laxity.
Is the Treatment Painful?
The treatment can be uncomfortable for some, given the heat and tingling sensations, but it is generally not described as painful. The device’s heating level can be adjusted to ensure patient comfort. Numbing cream or even oral analgesics could be given before the treatment to minimize the discomfort.
How many sessions are needed to see results?
Results from Thermage FLX can generally be seen after one single treatment, with the skin’s appearance continuing to improve over the following six months. As the skin continues to age, some patients opt for annual treatment.
How soon can I see results from?
Initial results can be observed soon after the treatment, and the skin’s appearance typically continues to improve over the next six months as new collagen is produced.
What to avoid after the treatment?
Patients should avoid injections three weeks before and after Thermage treatment. Makeup and regular activities can be resumed immediately post-treatment, but regular application of sunscreen is highly recommended to protect the skin.
Are there any side effects?
Thermage FLX has minimal side effects. Some patients may experience mild redness or swelling, which usually subsides within a few hours. Burn could happen but it is very rare.
