A chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution containing salicylic acid and hydroquinone to the skin. This solution exfoliates the skin and causes the top layers to peel off, revealing more radiant, smoother, and less wrinkled skin beneath.

How does Chemical Peel work?

Chemical peels work by breaking down the bonds between the cells in the skin’s outer layers. This process promotes the shedding of the outer layers of skin, encouraging the growth of new skin cells and collagen production. It also helps by reducing the sebaceous secretion and opening the pores and thus minimizing the acne formation. The hydroquinone in the solution can lighten the pigmentation and the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne.

What is Chemical Peel best suited for?

Chemical peels are best suited for treating:

  • Pigmentation irregularities (like age spots, freckles, and melasma)
  • Sun damage
  • Acne and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by acne
  • Rosacea
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Actinic keratoses

What to expect during treatment?

During the treatment, the chemical solution is applied onto the skin and left for some time to take effect. A tingling sensation may be felt, a fan would be used to alleviate stinging sensation.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

Multiple sessions are often required to achieve the best results, typically 3-5 sessions depending on the outcome expection, with one session conducted every two weeks.

How soon can I see results from?

Results can be seen as early as 5-7 days after the procedure, but since results are cumulative, the best outcome is usually observed after multiple sessions.
